Avery left today

Avery left today, well, actually, she left yesterday. She is now somewhere in Europe on a little week long vacation. I'm here in Ithaca. You might remember a few weeks ago I went to San Francisco for a couple of days and Avery stayed here in Ithaca. The reason for separate vacations?

Well, if I haven't told you yet, its probably because I was waiting to tell you in-person. Avery and I have decided to split up. Its been a mostly amicable breakup and in the long run it is definitely going to be the best thing for both of us. In the short run its been a sad, hurting, enlightening, eye-opening, a regular tornado of emotions. If you saw me on May 12th when this started and saw me again today you would probably see about a 1000% improvement.

Although our relationship has been waning for the last few months, which I know some people like to call "plateau-ing", we kind of agreed that we would both be able to find a greater amount of happiness in life if we weren't together.

So what comes next besides separate vacations? Well, for the time being, I will be staying in Ithaca. I like living here even with the sub-zero winters and the tropical humid summers, the people are great and my little web business, "544 Productions" is starting to get a little bit better. I hope you can come visit me sometime!

Around mid-August, Avery is going to be moving out and I'll be taking in 2 roommates (which I've just started to search for - so if you need a place to live in Ithaca, email me!).

I'm sure you have a lot of questions, I might even have some answers. Send me an email or leave a comment and I'll post what I know!

First Day of School...

The first day of school almost always meant one thing for me - a new haircut. I had some butcher jobs as a kid, first Nic the barber, then later Will (and his cutting partner Ed) and then...well that was really it. One year I went off to school looking like a bowl had been carefully placed over my head and a line had been trimed around. That was the year I started junior high, let me tell you, it was mighty popular with the ladies.

A few years later I went off to high school and the Ed did something crazy with cutting my hair and then slicking it back like a 50s greaser. I was incredible embarrassed and let me tell you, it was mighty popular with the ladies. By the time I started college I was done with haircuts for the first day of school. While living in Boston I had a much wider range of choices and finally started to get some better haircuts (you can decide):

Here are pictures I scanned in (so some are dark) back in 1999:

And pictures of all the haircuts from August 2001 to May 2003:

All this brings me to tomorrow - Monday, January 24th, 2005. Tomorrow is Avery's first day of school at Cornell and what better way to start a new year than to get a hair cut.

Before_after Avery told me she wasn't allowed to smile in the "Before" picture. To view these a little bit bigger just click on the image.

Hope everyone else has a good Monday, Avery will be in school and I'll be at the home office working on web sites. Send Avery an email today to wish her luck!
