Once the board was in place the first order of business was to fill the third year of Mary Ann's vacated seat (her four year term on the board was from 2005 to 2009).

There had been previous discussion between Mary Ann and myself and also between Mary Ann and Joe Solomon. In addition Mary Ann did some networking around town to see who was interested in joining the board in a seat that they will have to run for this November for the final year of the term.

Joe, Mary Ann, and I agreed on appointing Jason Leifer to the board. I'm not sure how much consulting Mary Ann had with Steve Stelick. Jason brings a few great features to the board - he is a practicing attorney, he lives on Hunt Grove road in an area of town that doesn't have a really close representative, he just campaigned for town justice in a townwide race - so he's done door-to-door, and while losing in that race, he recieved a lot of votes of support from all over town.

We passed about 20 organizational resolutions and spent some time going over supervisor appointments including:
    Bookkeeper to Supervisor: Dawn Bogdan
    Deputy Supervisor: David Makar
Finance Committee: David Makar and Jason Leifer
Highway & Public Works Liason: Joseph Solomon
Assessment Review Committee: Jason Leifer and Steve Stelick
Representative to Planning Board: Joseph Solomon
Representative to Zoning Board of Appeals: Joseph Solomon
Representative(s) to IAWWTP: Jason Leifer and David Makar
Representatives to Fire Departments, Emergency Services, Public Safety: David Makar and Joseph Solomon
Recreation and Youth Committee: Steve Stelick and Jason Leifer
Community Block Grant Review & Grants Committee: David Makar and Jason Leifer
Human Resources Committee: Steve Stelick and Jason Leifer
Representative to Conservation Board: David Makar
Technology Committee: David Makar and Jason Leifer

So I have some responsibility for the following:
    Deputy Supervisor
    Finance Committee
IAWWTP (Ithaca Area Waste Water Treatment Plant)
Fire Departments, Emergency Services, Public Safety
Community Block Grant Review & Grants Committee
    Conservation Board
    Technology Committee

This pairs up nicely with the campaign issues I ran on and I'm encouraged to be joined on the board by Joe and Jason. I think our group can do some good work this year. A special thanks to the four members of the public that joined us to witness Mary Ann's historic evening.
